Simon Ashley

Chief Visionary Officer

“Working at the rainbow clinic just excites me because we are having an impact on families lives every day.”

What energise you about working here?

I just love kids having 4 of my own I understand the need for parents to get the right help. Working at The Rainbow Clinic just excites me because we are having an impact on families lives every day. For me seeing our team of professionals working together for you, our clients are so rewarding and inspiring. The role so far has energised and motivated me, so much so, when work doesn’t feel like work but fun it is not something that drains you at all but spurs you onto greater things.

What training and or qualifications do you have?

I am a Doctor of Osteopathy and have a business degree from Ballarat University. But my qualification for joining The Rainbow Clinic was my experience. Sarah and Pat have seen ATUNE flourish over the last 5 years into one of Australia’s leading integrated medical facilities.

They recognised that the future for our kids well-being is in collaborative care, that removes professional silo’s. So they asked me if I would bring my 15 years of experience and help The Rainbow Clinic to become Australia’s leading Paediatric integrated centre. Knowing the professionalism and passion that is The Rainbow Clinic, I was very excited about the prospect of working with this team.

I enjoy – my family. My wife and kids are the greatest blessing in my life. They are full of life and passion, and I just love watching them all enjoying and thriving in life. From drama, music to sport I love hanging out with them all and doing life with this crazy crew.

My passions are: Integrated, wholistic health care. I nearly died at aged 19 and through this experience I had the realisation that healthcare could be done so much better and working together and not against each other, was the only way this could be achieved. I have thus dedicated my working life to transforming healthcare in our nation, from travelling the world seeing how others do integrated/preventative care to building an integrated team, my passion for this change will continue until I retire. I also love sport and enjoy riding my bike around one of the most beautiful locations in the world Lake Macquarie.

When I'm not at work, you can find me hanging with my family, reading, riding or resting.

“I am extremely proud of The Rainbow Clinic team and what we do on a daily basis. I know I am living my purpose and passion and truly love working with children to achieve their potential.”

Sarah is The Rainbow Clinic’s Founder and is passionate about establishing ongoing relationships with children and their families. She believes that through these close relationships, individualised treatment plans can be established and will achieve better outcomes.

Having worked in paediatrics for more than 20 years, Sarah is well versed in all aspects of children’s development. Her dedication to helping children achieve has seen her work as an Occupational Therapist both locally and in the UK.

Sarah’s time working abroad afforded her the opportunity to train in Allied Health Leadership, Drama Therapy, Sensory Integration and Therapy, Splinting, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and in assessing and reporting using the sensory processing measure, sensory profile, handwriting speed test, Movement ABC and the Beery VMI-visual-motor integration tests.

On her return to Australia, Sarah first became involved in the set up and management of an Occupational Therapy practice on the western side of Lake Macquarie. She then embraced the opportunity to start her own practice, The Rainbow Clinic.

As the name suggests, The Rainbow Clinic was established to offer families a spectrum of services that are as colourful as the children they support. Sarah believes that rainbows provide hope. They are a physical sign that the rain is over, and the light is shining through. But this light can sometimes be hard to see, and that is why Sarah and her team ensure that all families receive the support, advice and therapy services they need every time they work with or visit the clinic.
